There is a rapid increase in the number of young people(10 to 20 years old) committing suicide because of unsuccessful job-hunting recently.
According to the National Police Agency, which did a research self-murder on the cause of suicide, more than 150 college students, committed suicide, due unemployment. The number grew 2.5 times greater than in 2007.
National Police Agency analysed the main cause of suicide by looking into farewell notes and notes which are written in life thoroughly. The cases of suicide resulting from a failure in job-seeking rose to 91 people in 2008, even though the number was only 60 people in 2007. Every year, men account for about 80 or 90%, and the number of students who committed suicide was 52 people, which is 3.2 times more than in 2007.

After Lehman’s fall in September in that year, the number had dropped to 95.1% in following year. It was the lowest rate in April last year, 91.0%,influenced by the grate Tohoku disaster.
