The private motor vehicle has greatly improved individual freedom of movement. Moreover, the automobile hasbecome a status symbol. Yet the use of private motor vehicles has contributed to some of today's most seriousproblems. How can the use of private motor vehicles be reduced?

In today's society, it is common to have individual cars. It is well-known that the emission of CO2 from automobilesis one of the causes of global warming and acid rain. This is a huge concern for our future and we should not carrydown the problems to the next generations. To prevent catastrophic outcomes, the government should take theinitiative in reducing the umber of private vehicles. 

To begin with, there is an enormous increase in the number of automobiles recently, especially private ones.Thanks to technological advances, the life standard has been rising and it been allowed us to afford to purchase anautomobile on our own. It also makes our lives a lot easier. We can enjoy leisure driving and curry a great deal ofbaggage when you go shopping. Furthermore, possessing own car has a potent symbol for the owner's social state.If you have a super fancy sport car, other people consider you as successful and may even respect you. Thismakes you feel fulfilled. Consequently, this prompt people to buy a car. 

On the other hand, a rise in the percentage of car possessions is highly problematic. These shortcomings havebeen recognized as tremendous influences on the earth. Taking the global warming as an example, carbon dioxide,which is a gas emitted by motor vehicles, is renown as one of factors causing the phenomenon. Due to asignificant rise in the amount of gas, many salient researchers are insisting that the standard of temperature isdramatically climbing. As a result, they focust that the sea level will go up and a million of people will suffer from it. 

In attempt to stop the tragic future, the government should create new regulations to encourage citizens to usepublic transport. A social scientist suggests that the government can start with offering to cut back the costs oftransportation, since the fare is the reason why people are not willing to take a bus or other form of transportation. 

In conclusion, it is obvious that having a private car enriches our lives. However, there are a lot of concerns. Istrenuously feel that currying out some new policies by the government can sort out these problems.
